Building on the recommendation published in July 2025, BALANCE Erneuerbare Energien GmbH, DAH Group, biogeen GmbH, Loick AG für nachwachsende Rohstoffe, NEXOGAS Holding GmbH, EnviTec Biogas AG, and Verbio SE have once again issued a joint industry recommendation to policymakers. Together, we operate nearly 300 facilities with a combined capacity of 800 MW and produce 8 TWh of green energy.

Our recommendation revisits Point 1 of the July position paper: Only by permanently safeguarding the existing provisions of the Gas Network Access Ordinance (GasNZV) can biogas continue to be fed into the existing infrastructure, stored, and used flexibly in a cost-efficient manner.

Why now? The political timing is crucial – our recommendation comes at exactly the right moment:

  • The Gas Network Access Ordinance (GasNZV) is set to expire.
  • The amendment to the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG) is currently being discussed in the Bundestag.
  • The implementation of the EU Gas Market Directive is approaching.

Now is the time to set the right course for the future.

For this reason, the undersigned companies have today sent the industry recommendation to members of the German Bundestag and state parliaments, ministries, and industry associations.

Biogas needs practical and reliable successor regulations for access to the gas grid in order to fully realize its potential in the future.
